The only reason people have a crazy idea that Mac is better at audio/video editing (when its not, anymore) is because in the early days mac went towards media, thus becoming the industry standard.

Microsoft over took mac at audio/video editing a long time ago but the old days still stick with people, 'tech savvy' people know the difference though.

Linux isnt well known for video and audio but Avatar recently used linux to for making textures and 3d modeling, and rendered the final film.
