How do I use a "tripcode"?

Tripcodes can help verify a user's identity to others, and are a type of pseudo-registration. To use a normal tripcode, place an octothorpe ("#") followed by a word or short phrase after what you've entered into the [Name] field (ex. "User#password"). Upon submission, the server will generate the hash unique to that particular word or phrase. The previous example would display "User !ozOtJW9BFA" after being posted.

Important note: A tripcode is generated only using the text entered after the octothorpe. Your entered name, IP address, cookie information, etc. do not affect the output. Normal tripcodes are *not* secure; they can be cracked with relative ease. For a more secure solution, see secure tripcodes.


What is a "secure tripcode"?

A secure tripcode can be generated by placing two octothorpes in the [Name] field, as opposed to one as with a normal tripcode (ex. "User##password"). Secure tripcodes use a secret key file on the server to help obscure their password. The previous example would display "User !!Oo43raDvH61" after being posted.

A capcode is a way of verifying someone as a anonIB staff member. Normal users do not have the ability to post using a capcode. A moderator capcode will display "## Mod" after their name. Likewise, the administrator capcode displays "## Admin". Often times, a moderator will post as "Anonymous ## Mod" in order to keep their identity secret

the dir dumper is for uploading lots of files. like 50+, so don't bitch if you have to manually upload 4 files. i've many times uploaded over 100 images to a thread on /b/, and it wasn't a problem because i can still do other things while not hitting submit. this dir dumper just makes it hands free and is NOT hard or time-consuming, you're just refusing to put in a little effort. fucking whiners.

At least 4 pics per post would be nice.

I have never had an issue with deleting my posts when not logged. I really am not sure what to tell you about this, but I can see that you used 'hey' on a couple of them(the only md5 of the passwords that you have used that I had a hash for.)

k, I tested it out abit. Seems there's almost no post delay.

We rate limit, which should allow multiple posts in serial - and the site will actually add iptables rules to deny if you attempt to do anything stupid like flood. If you see a maintenance page(during a POST but not a GET) then you have gone over your limit and will have to wait for your average POST's per minute to even out before you can hit reply again.

We don't want to be too aggressive, but of course must curb spammers and floods.

On a related note, I was recently banned for the word spec1@alist, because it contains the word c1@alis. I'd suggest either requiring http, www, com, etc within the same word or simply reject the post, not ban, and say why.

I don't want to see anonib fail after this hard reset, so I wouldn't give ppl a reason to forgo the inconvenience of resetting the modem and take their viewership elsewhere. Bans can always be evaded, and spammers will care less about an extra minute of work than a normal visitor.

Write "sage" in the email field. The thread won't be bumped and you'll be taken to page 0 of the current board.

Alternatively you can write "noko" in the email field and you'll be taken back to the thread after posting. This is useful is you wanna post multiple files, but don't wanna mess up and forget to click "reply" after each upload.

Are you blocking your referrer? Are you doing anything else stupid with your browser?

Try disabling any and all addon's then add them back in one at a time until you find what is breaking then report it back here so that we can check into the issue.
